new

new dress...

i made taylor this dress lastnight:

inspired by this one:

it was one last thing i was making with my handystitch.

new sewing machine

i got it today at joanne's in ontario. they have a sewing shop inside that store that sells sewing machines-singer, white, etc. but they specialize in Viking. or as mine is called the Huskystar E20 by Husqvarna Viking. it's a line from sweden. it has a 1 year warranty and i can take free classes at joanne's on how to use my machine. and if i decide in 10 days that i dont want it then i can return it for a full refund. i was sold on a singer. but really unsure of which one to get. then at joanne's i was convinced on the viking because of the price and 1 yr. warranty. the singer only had a 90 day warranty. i can't really find any reviews on my machine which is making me 2nd guess myself. i guess i'll have to test it out and see if i really wanna keep it. if anyone knows anything about it let me know! but i am excited that i have a sewing machine. i haven't opened it yet. :)

today's projects

so my handystitch works. i got new batteries. but i didn't make taylor a skirt today. instead i did some non-sewing projects, some presents for some friends...but i can't post those pics till those friends get those presents...just in case they read this blog. i did finish making taylor that dress (or maybe it's a cute, long tank) i was working on lastnight before my handystitch died. then i washed it and the washer ate up one of the ribbon straps. haha. i have yet to fix it.
...or maybe it's a nightgown. haha. looks like one.

to sub or not to sub

earlier this week i changed my availability for subbing. and since then i've been getting calls. or i'd call the system to check for jobs and there seem to always be jobs available. but yet, i don't take any. i hesitate. i really want to but then i can't get myself to press 1 to accept the job. there's a huge part of me that really wants too...just to get a break from taylor and bring in extra money. then there's that part of me that doesn't want to...for fear of missing something exciting in the 6 hours i'd be gone from taylor, or fear of her giving my mom such a hard time. i don't know what it is. i know i want to sub. i know the jobs are available. i know that my mom can watch her. but will i ever take a job?! hehe. please pray for guidance on this.

ugh!

i think my handystitch died. or maybe i just need new batteries. so i am sad i didn't get to make a skirt for taylor yesterday. i was telling myself i'd make 1 a day. well, i was in the process of making taylor a dress and the handystitch died. so sad. so i shall get new batteries today and pay a trip to joanne's to look at sewing machines and maybe purchase one. we'll see. making clothes for taylor is fun. but summer's coming to an end...will i know how to make fall/winter clothes?! hehe. we'll see.

yesterday

i took taylor to the dr to have them check out her eye. she's had a sty since sunday. i just wanted to make sure it wasn't infected. haha, and it's not. there went my $15 co-pay. haha. he just told me to put a warm compress on it. hehe. and it should go away within 7-10 days. here is taylor playing w/ the toys at the dr. after these not so nice 3 siblings got called into to their appt. (2 girls and 1 boy). they wouldn't share with taylor and moved all the toys by them. and she got soo hapy when she finally got to play with it. kids!

...i've been trying so potty train taylor i'd say for the past 4 or 5 months or so...since she's always with me when i use the potty. and she's always so curious about the potty. so we bought her an elmo potty seat to go on top of the toilet. for the few months she used it consistently at least once a day. sometimes poop, sometimes just pee. and she was good at times telling us "peepee" so she can use the elmo potty. but lately she didn't wanna use it. in the past she had constipation problems and we'd sit her on her potty and she'd cry, cry, cry cause it hurt so much. so we think she associated her elmo potty w/her constipation. and therefore, she didn't want to sit on it to go pee or poo cause it might hurt. but yesterday we were reading a book with what she thought looked like a potty (it really did-the way it was drawn) but it was a a sink. haha. and she kept saying "peepee." so i asked her if she wanted to go on elmo potty and she said yes. so we went, took off her diaper and peepee she went. her favorite part of going potty is: 1) getting to pull the toilet paper to go down the toilet, after she "wipes." and 2) watching the toilet get flushed. here's a CROPPED pick of her on the potty-gotta keep it g-rated. haha.

crafting and sewing

have u met my sewing machine?

this IS my sewing machine! at least for now. it has done me wonders. i've made 4 skirts, 1 dress, 1 tank top for taylor and 1 clutch for my mother-in-law. as handy as it is...hence the name "handystitch" i shall be getting a real sewing machine hopefully this weekend. i'm so excited!
i've also been doing lots of crafting...like ruby and making taylor some hair clips. thanks ruby (and all the fabulous sites on the internet) for all the crafting and sewing inspiration.

happy birthday wowwa

sunday night we celebrated jino's mom's birthday-or as taylor calls her "wowwa"...we ate at kuki sushi in chino hills then had frozen yogurt at golden spoon.

a happy birthday kiss for wowwa

and instead of mom getting all the presents...they showered taylor with a bunch of presents from their adventures in china town and outlet shopping...

my favorite of them all...these little black maryjanes....
