mud run

this year a group of us wanted to do the camp pendleton mud run.
the only thing about registering for this race is that registration begins on january 1st at midnight and sells out within minutes of registration being open. we weren't crazy and didn't register at midnight. we registered when we woke up that morning and of course the first 2 races were already sold out. but we were lucky enough to be able to register for the 3rd race they had open on june 11th!!! i was stoked cause i'd been wanting to do this race for awhile. there were 6 of us but it was only 5 per team so one of us had to register as an individual (next time we'd probably all register as individuals). the team consisted of me, jino, krissa and brian, joe and doreen. we couldn't wait for this day. hardly any of us really trained for it. i made sure i was still running and about a few weeks before the run i had signed up for a bootcamp class which helped out with the obstacles at the race.

we got there about almost 3hours early
tram ride-it was soooo cold!!!
this is what happens when you get there too early...take lots of pics:

we did it!!!
in our cool shirts
wearing our free shirts. we decided to just wipe off what we could of the mud and put dry clothes on instead of waiting in the super long line to take a cold shower in. we had an okay time for our team but then again we weren't doing it for a time since this was our first time. we just wanted to have fun doing it and that's just what we did. out of 274 mixed teams we came in 176th place with a time of 1:46:35. maybe, just maybe if there is a next year we will do it for time. but those hills i tell you were hilly. it didn't help that i did bootcamp the day before and my legs were already super sore. the race was fun, especially when we did the obstacles and got muddy. the only part i was bummed that i couldn't do was cross the river. when we started they said it was at 5 1/2 feet. i am barely 5'1 and i really can't swim. i was still determined to do it, whether i held on to the rope or was on jino's back. when we got to the river they said it was at 6ft deep and that if you can't swim or aren't a very good swimmer then u better turn around cause there is no holding on to the rope either. so me and doreen turned around. nonetheless, still had an amazingly fun time. my favorite parts of this race were getting down and dirty in the muddy obstacles!

*will post more pics when they become available on the website!
