1st IEP meeting done!

Wow that was a one of the loooooooongest meetings ever!!! It was a great team for the IEP full of people we knew except for the 2 reps from the school districts. There was Rea's Early Intervention Teacher, the County Schools Principal, County Schools OT and PT, School Psychologist, her Braille Institute Teacher, Vision Teacher, Director of Special Ed for Ontario/Montclair, a Chino Valley rep, her Inland Regional Case Worker Nurse, her current CCS OT and PT and the only missing was the County Schools Nurse. That was a lot of people-but most of them knew Rea and have been working with her since she was 3months old. It really was a LOT to take in. As they read their reports I kept telling myself don't cry. It was soo hard not to and I held it as long as I could. But when they kept reading about her "cant's" I couldn't help by start to tear and I kept thinking why can't they just talk about her "cans," what Reagan CAN do?! And hearing how she was strong in certain areas before and now isn't was hard to take it....just hearing how skills she had passed are now skills she is struggling with. It sure made me sad. She'll be 3 in 12 days but yet she's basically at a 3-5 month level. Ya, now that's hard to swallow!!! It was a good meeting. We were able to ask a lot of questions and received good feedback. We didn't sign anything just yet cause we want to make sure we have time to talk about it together and to pray about it. Thank you all for your prayers and we ask that you continue to pray for us as we make the final decision. Please pray for peace, how many days we should put Rea in whether it's 2, 3 or 5, to bus her or not.  And pray for a teacher/teachers for Rea that really, really LOVE what they are doing, ones that really love working with special needs kids...and really take the time to care for Rea (and the other kids in the class) and help her reach her goals and not for one who is passive and to them this is just a "job." I know this is the 1st of many IEP's and just another step in our long journey ahead with Rea...and thankfully we have Jesus to help us in this journey and in each decision we make for Rea
